Best Dog Parks Near Spokane, WA

One of the best things about dog parks is they are not only the perfect place to bring your four-legged animal member when they need to get some exercise and socialize, but they can be fun for you too. Dog owners can socialize and get fresh air while their dogs do the same. Several dog parks are in and around the Spokane area and several other dog-friendly areas. Take a look at some of our favorite places to bring our dogs.

SpokeAnimal Dog Park at High Bridge

The SpokeAnimal Dog Park opened in 2010 and was the first dog park in the city, offering a free off-leash park to Spokane residents and their dogs. It sits close to High Bridge Park and has several different entrance points with parking at all of them.

The large park has lots of areas to explore and hills to climb where you can get some beautiful views of the city. In addition, the park has trails that wind through the wooded areas making it perfect for you and your dog to get some exercise and fresh air. You can let your dog run and explore the trails without being attached to a leash, and since a chain-link fence surrounds the entire park, you don’t have to worry about them getting lost. Even if your pup gets ahead of you on the trails, you know they won’t be far away. This park even has a special area for smaller dogs to explore.

SpokeAnimal Dog Park has dispensers with bags for picking up after your pup and trash containers where you can throw it away. Water spigots are also placed in several areas around the park, so freshwater is never far away.

South Hill Dog Park

The South Hill Dog Park will move from its current location on S. Altamont St. and E 63rd Ave in Spokane to a new spot near Mullen Road Elementary School before the end of the year. The new park will have 5.7 acres for dogs to explore, which is smaller than the old park, but it will still have room for dogs to run and play.

Valley Mission Dog Park

Valley Mission Dog Park on E. Mission Avenue in Spokane Valley is a small park, but it still gives dogs plenty of space to run, and they can play with other dogs. It has special areas for large and small dogs so that they can play separately, and both runs have water and obstacles for the dogs to use. Both areas also have canopies with shade for you to sit under while you watch your pup play, and there is plenty of seating. There are bathrooms adjacent to the park, and parking is not far from the entrance.

You’ll find poop bag dispensers right at the park, and the city is good about keeping them stocked, so you can always pick them up after your dog.

Downtown Spokane Dog Park

The Downtown Spokane Dog Park on West Riverside Ave in the west end of the city is newer in the area. It sits on a traffic island and has plenty of shade and lots of seating, and it even stays open 24 hours a day. Unfortunately, this park doesn’t have separate areas for large and small dogs, so you’ll want to make sure your dog can play well with all different dogs before bringing them here.

This park is small, but it’s an excellent place to bring your pup if you live in the city and want to get them away from the hustle and bustle of downtown.

Riverfront Park

Riverfront Park in Spokane is a popular park in the downtown area. You are welcome to bring your dog to Riverfront, but they must be kept on a leash.

Patricia Simonet Laughing Dog Park

The Patricia Simonet Laughing Dog Park is an off-leash park that stays open all year round. Dogs can go in every day from dawn to dusk to play in the grass or explore the wooded natural area. There is a paved path that surrounds the chain-link fenced-in park, and it has a double-gated entrance to ensure the dogs can safely enter and exit. Baggies are always available for cleaning up after your pet, and pet parents can sit at the picnic tables in the park to watch their dogs play.

Your dog must be vaccinated to enter the park, and if they wear a pitch or choke collar, it must come off before entering the park.

Boulder Beach

Boulder Beach Park is a dog-friendly park where you can bring your leashed dog for a fun day outside. The parking lot connects to the Centennial Trail, so you and your pup can go for a long walk, or you can explore around the beach area. The Centennial Trail runs through two states and is a National Recreation Trails. It extends 24 miles through Washington and Idaho, and since it’s a paved trail, it’s perfect for you and your dog whether you want to walk, run, or ride.

In addition to accessing the Centennial Trail from Boulder Beach Park, you can also access it from Mirabeau Point Park, Myrtle Point, Sullivan Park, Barker Road, and Flora Road.

Greenacres Park

Bring your dog to Greenacres Park on North Long Road in Spokane Valley for some fun and exercise. This park is dog-friendly as long as you keep them on a leash and pick up after them. It has wide-open grassy areas where they can run and a walking trail to explore. The park has dog bags available and trash cans to make it easy when you have to clean up after them.
