2023 Hyundai Elantra, Sonata, and Kona EV are Named to ACEEE Greenest Vehicles List
Hyundai won big in the recent American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy’s (ACEEE) list of Greenest Vehicles of 2023. The Hyundai Elantra Hybrid Blue, Sonata Hybrid Blue and Kona EV were all named to the list in 2023, tying Toyota for the most vehicles on this year’s list of any automaker. In addition, the 2023 Elantra Hybrid Blue received special honors for being the greenest hybrid of any vehicle in the world.

“Hyundai’s goal of ‘Progress for Humanity’ means meeting the needs of drivers who require highly efficient vehicles,”
said Ricky Lao, director, product planning, Hyundai Motor North America.
“We are excited to have three of our vehicles in very competitive segments make this prominent list.”

In the growing, competitive green vehicle segment, each Hyundai vehicle’s lifetime environmental impact was analyzed by ACEEE, scoring among a select group of standouts. This list specifies the twelve most environmentally-friendly nameplates available to consumers this model year.

How Are Vehicles Rated?
The GreenerCars scores from the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) are based on an environmental damage index (EDX) that reflects the cost to human health from pollution associated with vehicle tailpipe emissions, vehicle manufacturing and disposal, and the production and distribution of auto fuel and electricity.
